HILLARY'S ALREADY WON!!!
I was sitting around the house the other day listening to another talking head on TV go on about Hillary needing to drop out of the race, or not drop out, or whatever. OK, I was only half listening. Anyway, I decided to look into things myself. I looked at this primary between Hillary Clinton & Barry Obama - but instead of doing this proportional delegate thing, I used the electoral college. In the primary, if a candidate wins 56% of a state's popular vote, they get 56% of the 8 zillion delegates. Come November, if a candidate wins 56% of the popular vote in a state, they get ALL of the electoral college votes from that state - a "winner-take-all" situation. Using the general election "winner-take-all" method Barack Obama has 234 electoral college votes and Hillary Clinton has 234. If you count Hillary's wins in Florida & Michigan, her total jumps to 278. When November comes around, a candidate needs to win 270 electoral votes. If you count the Florida & Michigan voters, Hillary's already defeated Obama. Even if Obama were to win the remaining 5 states and pick up all 26 remaining electoral college votes, he's end up with 260. It means nothing insofar as the primary goes, but it does go a long way in supporting Hillary's argument that she can win the "big states".
