In today’s 24-hour news cycle, one can find discouraging news on a constant loop. News channels and Web sites run continuous updates on the stock market, oil futures or interest rates. The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce felt it was time to say “enough is enough.” Rather than sit idly by and wait for the certain up tick in our local economy, they decided to give it a little push with our own version of an economic stimulus plan that they are calling “Pay the 2s Forward.”

It is Chamber's hope that the $2 bills will be seen throughout the community, emphasizing the impact of doing business locally. With today’s cost of transportation and shipping, it is more important than ever for Gainesville area businesses and residents to seek out local sources first for their needs.
The Chamber is asking the business community for their help in making this program a success that will carry over in the weeks and month ahead by keeping this currency in circulation. They urge giving change with the bills so that another business may be touched by the program.
As an added benefit, many Chamber member businesses are joining the program by adding their own rebates, coupons or discounts.
