March Unemployment Edges Up Slightly in Fla.

TALLAHASSEE (by Rick Flagg and Alan McBride/FLA. NEWS NETWORK)  -- The jobless rate in March hit 6-point-3 percent... one tenth of a point higher than February.
The numbers were representative of a picture that brought a mix of news both good and not so good.
The good news is that Sunshine State added almost 23,000 jobs last month; about a quarter million over the past year.
The bad news is that there were 17.000 more names on the official unemployment list last month.
The biggest gains have been in the field of business and professional services, trade and tourism.
The sector that has lost jobs over the past year is government.
Monroe County in the Keys and Walton County in the panhandle tied for the lowest unemployment rate at 3.8 percent.
The highest unemployment rate was found in Flagler County, where 9.3 percent of the workforce couldn't find work.
