Charlotte’s Web Pot Bill Clears First Fla. Committee

TALLAHASSEE (by Rick Flagg and Alan McBride/FLA. NEWS NETWORK) -- The Criminal Justice committee in the Florida House made history this week ... voting to legalize the use of a particular strain of medical marijuana.
It's called "Charlotte's Web" and has very low levels of T-H-C ... the compound that gets you high.
But Eric Dillard says its makes all the difference for children suffering from chronic seizures... like his son Daniel.
"This will, for those that it works, this literally will save their lives," he said. "So think of that as you're voting."
Representative Gayle Harrell was the only lawmaker to vote "no" and she did it with tears in her eyes.
She said her heart went out to the parents, adding that she really wanted to solve the problem for them.
The bill has a long way to go in the process, but this is apparently the first time a legislative committee in Florida has ever voted for any type of marijuana legalization.
