Google Maps Removes Image of Slain Teen

Google(NEW YORK) -- A satellite image of a slain 14-year-old boy has been removed from Google Maps after the teen’s father came across the shocking discovery and requested it be taken down.

The teen’s father, Jose Barrera, told KTVU-TV last week that after he became aware of the image sometime last week, he asked Google to remove it out of respect for his late son.

Kevin Barrera’s body was found on a path near railroad tracks that separate North Richmond, Calif., from San Pablo, Calif., on Aug. 15, 2009.  His slaying remains unsolved.

The image showed Kevin’s body with what appeared to be a police car and investigators nearby.

Google Maps Vice President Brian McClendon released a statement last week saying the disturbing image would be replaced within days and Google was “…working hard on the update.”
