That is what is your wallet. This isn't valued bugs don't make your wallet ready and win 1000 dollars on this. Thousand dollars nationwide question has great shooter then please do not seven point three this guy. A. Head monitored and welcome my friends don't so. It shows some of these. Immediately. Phone calls he did or didn't make me don't sound like important phone calls but the media is running after that day. They still haven't nine you know still not following Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her IT guy about how well I Japan. Analyst notes would test out some of the aggression coming out of North Korea and the Dow breaks when he 2000 Hulu. But first and foremost in a studio ladies and gentlemen Marion County commissioner Carl's Allie good morning Carl laid on him are you give him a friend telling going to. Fantastic it is good to see you again none of your ears were burning and it. I got my a fighter assessment tax for a last doing Downey and this is on top of the storm water taxi hitters with. It you know but few weeks ago how much back on -- and Elliott look it's like under bucks here on the bucks there but you know I'm not a rich manner to pay 4000 dollars in property taxes are all here wow and you can actually live in the republic of a lot to account and I get to your rights a job yeah. Maria and derelict of our greatest amount Americana with treats him. What it's easier what I feel like Selena does a little bit we'll give you discount rate me great lifestyle well the issue always used to be big commute from my wife when I travel and that's not a big issue for me I don't mind drive especially for in the morning who cares right do you give her ability and the years so she knows how much do you know well look it look we're. We're undermining yeah we are in a once you get away from Jerry you do is listen I don't know what this show a couple of years you know about where we're going to be near mile camper full time. That's I'm talking. I just show due to show on the road I'm with its pilots did to us talk about some of the great things he got going on in Marion County because and I'm not blown smoke. You know that. I I just wish Gillette to a county leadership and and the city of Gainesville which just. Look and listen and see how things are done in Marion County I'm not saying a lesser county should try to be Marion County but when it comes to being fiscally responsible. You guys get the job done that I mean up here they don't even know. There their. Hundreds of millions of dollars behind just in road improvement projects that he keep pushing back. You guys are looking ahead and coming up with a five year plan that's gonna include I would imagine. You know roads and all the other necessities there really cool things we've done and and you. I've talked about this before that we did this so public safety infrastructure. Sales tax. Because. The reality of it is the brings so much pressure put on property owners. Nam without the result of you know using a fair tax basically process that would spread the cost of infrastructure across and public safety across. You know so many times in our communities whether it's Gainesville or anywhere in the state of Florida you have toward Seoul all over the place you've got people visiting. You know their spending dollars and gas tax those gas taxes need to go to U. Infrastructure being built and the sales tax is also 2530%. Paid for by forest you know were were all the time. You know having public safety agencies from Marion County fire. Sheriff's office in responding responding to those them emergencies. Com for those folks. And now it's a great. Parity by bringing the sales tax and by not burning everything on the property tax owner and by doing that we we been able to put a five year strategic plan together. We're continuing a look at that and what in what we have to do. Is and you all know we've not been the best pay him fire we've not been the best paid in shares officers and we're trying to fix that we're trying to fix that over. A time span and we know that just like everybody else is budget you can't have at all you can't have all the capital equipment and you can't Havel salary you can do that only one year. You have to. Play and that and indeed that over time we've so we and we just signed our. How far you can't try to ratified that. For the next three years arm and that's wonderful little pressure on the military and it's gonna raise are far assessment you know a little bit. But we're going to plan that indeed ever strategically so that we can have the right emergency services and our and the people Americana it's all that's what they want. I mean really when you look at your Miller jury you guys just voted to make sure that the maximum proposed military. Cannot exceed 3.4 zero run a general fund and so right now we're just under three to. 3.2. And so we have it set at 3.4. And that's just so that when you're trim noticed goes out that's the maximum it can be and then we'll have to public hearings in September to actually set a final Milledge do you actually listened. To have people when they have a public meeting and end of his status is because the emails and calls once the trim notice goes out people say hey why my property tax shifting what's going on and we explain it and then a lot of times those folks come to the hearing and we think that hard because. Elisa married Mary calories is a blue collar town were working town with a lot of great opportunities. But to not listen the folks would be. Detrimental to our success. It appears to me here in the last to a county. They have already made their minds up I've seen us in so many different issues especially when it comes to taxation. They they had a storm water saying. And Nate and and it comes up all the sides and that's about it all the details it's all been printed out and advances like. So these this has been on the drawing board for some time but they don't shut down out publicly yeah you know it might put a notice somewhere kind of a we did our due diligence but. It's like the sixties and and the Miller jury here for people wanna compare. You know what happens is that when oh when the bugs is put together back in January. So you know they start having one on one meetings with commissioner saying hey what you think about these things obviously the commissioner says hey we've you know put together the storm water thing let's look at it. Well by the time January gets to July now everything's preface that on having that extra revenue and you put the commissioners and a box. At the end of the day it's like okay well we are you gonna do what we wanna do so that we can advance this next process because obviously in any money for some things. Right in your era do that way are you wanna raise the military. This is generally are too close I think I think did you close that that that edge in the Gloucester county. You can only have a Max attend mills. So in rural rate rise of Euro but it would oh or eight plus any amnesty now they're desperate to Israel and yeah probably they're probably maxed out. Were parts of the county. I would assume I don't know for a fact but I'm assuming that imports accounted they're probably maxed out or Shura solar rays and more than eight. And we can't get roads paved I mean they just failed to prioritize but sales tax on the ballot in the we have Ed and assailed unlike ours right well unlike viewers it's sale and here's why. Because if you've been mistreating the taxpayers not listening to them not doing. The priorities which are public safety and raw liver previously for for decades really early so. He did you you've lost all confidence and trust the public will not vote for for you to get it any more revenue because you have not handled what revenue you have properly right right and you can see that the Ackerman and that becomes that's a hard time that you of the sales taxes have been successful American county or history over the last twenty years because. When we says hey we're gonna bond for parks they deliver marks the that was previous commissioners way before me and I you know when they said hey we we need a sales tax into the courthouse and jail. They don't support possible to jail they did do a courthouse here and he's right way yes OK Newton just keep going on and on and off. And so bomb there will be more sales taxes that proposed throughout the state of Florida in the future. But when you do a good job and deliver the service I think hopefully your people trust well you spelled it out you help people understand it you told exactly where it was gonna go to her. How is going to be monitored the sunset and we still have site review of Americana AFL borrower on the sales tax you to look at every single piece of that whether it's fire sheriff's office infrastructure you can see what we spent money on what roads are getting done what schedules and exactly how those dollars will be spent so that we can have the most transparency possible I Google the same thing for electric Downey and the only thing came up was mosquitoes. Let's keep us Yankee breeding and breathing I don't stray farming area there that we are spread for America any less there is they. An outbreak of something like any finality of west 90 or Zeke not something like that then help Parma while on spray and there's money to do that. But we'll spray on a regular basis either. Those people that do you have more time multimillion dollar budgets that keeps raining like in South Beach for instance mayor Antonia stuff to bust only about that quickly wow what a great time I mean our employees are just awesome. On the giving giving giving in the that we donated more than 151000 items to the Marion county public schools homeless children program. That's even 5000 more than last year that's awesome pass on me you know our our people are they're donating and I give him credit because you know. There are moms and dads unhappy and go around spend you know a bunch of money and had to get their kids ready for school and they're still will need donates it to homeless kids and in Americana program and that's for now you are close kudos you know. Jeanine written in actually and in our whole public access public service sector side one this year more on that administrators battle and are 911 folks gave the most you know in anything about the stress that job and those guys are out there helping these kids and it's just amazing to have that kind of but can't help. For those kids that's really can't afford it and you know it's it's embarrassing right I mean you know when your kid and go to school armor around four and was to have you know. Trying to have a right sneakers or this or that you know you always want you don't have some benefit or close the Ryder you know and now there is couple years ma'am where. You you know like I got. Mall more shoes we're gonna. You know that's all those who you know a non renders them low browsers. And you know can we are pressure as a kid it's amazing how does that kid. Determine your schooled it's not as though it's silly it's not a way now but it but it's it's been like that for years not the way it should be right but it. It is reality and Internet you sending kids to school. And in names they look good they still good about themselves and you know what is it dress for success kind of a not merely trying to. Pay stubs let's continue this I'm talking a Carl's Alec Marion County commissioner. I am and ask him about that habitat for humanity stuff that's going on there. I'm a little bit more about taxes and then maybe some success stories about. Businesses and job opportunities or Mary Downey age seventeen of future into the Bob Rochelle news talk 97.3 this guy. Sporting news and not a seven point three this. Hey Tony for a look I'm Rochelle live local favorite tune in Carl's Alex Perry county commissioner. Cannot housing calls always pleasant let's continue on what we're talking about. Good things going on Mary county high habitat for humanity is still Dell's fourth house so to me about that. Yes so we know we did the we held the support to have that humanity in the annual strawberry festival it's an awesome events. Thumb so many folks come out get their palates and love strawberries and and were able to support house and so the whole goal of the shrubbery festival assume build what they called the strawberry house. Raise enough money to actually build a house common they've been doing that now offer this is the fourth year in a row. Found that they've been able to build look habits after your manners shrubbery house and that's just been phenomenal they just raise the walls. Two weeks ago. In that house is actually become a reality now some are commissioners were able to be out there. Tom for the wall raising incoming staff and then the balance of their time and abilities to try to make threatening continue to happen and it's a great partnership. They have an armored piercing complex the government complex. And it's just exciting and day out continue to raise how many people are coming I think they have over 34000. People. I don't want to Sharif festival that's huge yeah every EE every march yes we have it every every. It's prospering. Every spring here are in the former possible time OK I don't know how I'd been missing this huge events somehow someway and phenomenal so next your red headed down. I'd love to I wonder if it runs or maybe it runs counter to maybe by quietest in mining act and think I'm march represents to me you'll find out and make sure we get Jones Debra you love to be a part of it yeah I think that's an incredible opportunity for a for the Scott are you part of in this incredible opportunity in our community and and Trevor hasn't really coal mean to real watch those votes and you know the way habitat for humanity does it that builds and sweat equity they actually get out there build the house and just. What an awesome program way you're at risk. But that mr. conservative Republican Carl's Alec in Polly's good things he doesn't community you're gonna ruin a stereotype did did some liberals have in their mind I'll object OK ditto you know worried about there are worried about the blow in the look you just worry about doing the right thing and let the chips fall weatherman a Lebanese are that it does that so we're at budget time. Bob and you know we've got via. The maximum military we were just talking about coming up and in September and will power to public hearings so in the end of August people are giving mission notices and what should be aware you know so many times in the past. Tom I've gotten that piece of mail in and not really even paying attention to adjustments so busy life can you know raising kids doing those kind of things work in. On that I never got a chance due to look at him and I wanna tell the folks of America counting. Hey when you get that thing you know look at it if you have a question email us you know give us a phone call. I'm you don't have to come to the public hearing to have your. Message or your thought responded to. By the county commission and so we wanna hear from you we wanna know what you think bomb you know whether it's good that says hey no that's really reasonable Anderson when you guys are doing. Bomb we understand public safety is important. Or listen IE you know to mr. You guys and come back to reality I can't afford that I've Gumbel those messages. In this state there are working on a plan and it'll be I guess it would make it change to the amendment. That people vote on and that is you know the state constitution. And and that would be a greater amount of money that would be a homestead exemption or another 25000 I think they're talking about adding. That yes so so the eve of the current am I if I have this right the current exemption goes from like fifty to 75000. I believe. Tom and they were going to do. These exemption from 75000. To a hundred but they changed that in the law and are actually going to make exempts. A 10225000. Dollars worth of value so that's value numbers so when you get your appraisal from the property appraiser. If you have a house is valued up 225000. You'll get another 25000. In homestead exemption tax. Tax crowd today it pass it they're passing this ballot in 2018. What does that do somebody like dude it's trying to budget and and manage show all the counties expenses. And dad obviously is gonna take you you'd shrunk away as an on gas and actually the interesting part about it we've done the analysis and I'll get on gets you better details we get better details. But it's over six point five million dollars reduction in you know war bomb. It route reduction in income that would be the per year per year and the biggest hit that about about four million dollars is in the shares amnesty you budget. So it reduced the shares much about four million. So what typically will happen is that counties can't have the same level services because of that it's over 600 million dollars. The statewide reduction in the local governments. Thumps and the speaker of the house continues to say that not only is that you wanna do that was gonna put more sanctions almost governments. Com and try to do that next year. To prevent us from even recouping some of those dollars so what happens is you take those dollars away from the residential side right things that exemption night and then you raise taxes the amount of dollars. To cover that difference if you do that. Then all you're doing is saying okay we found residential side you're a pay less money for all you businesses small businesses and large businesses that you have some. Here we have to make up that difference and really that's what this. Wow where we'll talk about why let's talk about debt for the next army command of cash and you have does that interest and age 29 on about Rochelle Mary thank you mister Carles Alec always a pleasure thank you sir thank you my friend. Much more to come on Bob Rochelle including the smack down of a CNN reporting coming out.
