JACKSONVILLE (by Rick Flagg/FLA. NEWS NETWORK) -- Governor Rick Scott is on the road defending Enterprise Florida.

During a roundtable session in Jacksonville, Scott promised to thwart the Florida House of Representatives, which has voted to eliminate the business recruiting agency.

"I'll be traveling the state every day making sure everyone knows the importance of this," he said.

House Speaker Richard Corcoran of Land O'Lakes says business incentives are corporate welfare, and the state should not be using tax money to play favorites in private enterprise.

Toward that end, Corcoran and the House have been pushing measures to dismantle Enterprise Florida, which uses tax payer dollars to lure businesses to Florida.

Corcoran and the House are also working to curtail the power of Visit Florida, which uses tax dollars to promote tourism.
