Kerry Starts Trip to Middle East, Europe in Cairo

US Department of State(CAIRO) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry traveled to Egypt on Sunday on the first day of a six-day trip to the Middle East and Europe.

According to the State Department, Kerry will visit Cairo, Amman, Brussels and Paris to "consult with partners and allies on how we can support security, stability and the formation of an inclusive government in Iraq, to discuss Middle East security challenges, and to attend the NATO Foreign Ministerial." On Sunday, Kerry is expected to meet with senior government officials. The situations in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Israeli-Palestinian relations will likely be among the topics of conversation.

A senior State Department official said on Saturday that Kerry will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri and the hear of the Arab League, Nabil Elaraby.
