TAMPA, FLA. (Florida News Network) -- The price at the pump continues to improve for Florida drivers.
According to the latest Fuel Price Brief from Tampa-based AAA-South, the current average for Florida is $3.53 per gallon, down six cents from the week before.
The national average is also $3.53 per gallon.
AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady says demand for gasoline remains low and as long as economic news continues to be negative, prices will stay lower.
"Oil and gas prices will likely continue on this downward trend until stronger economic figures are reported, said Brady. Although the economic news is less than great, motorists will welcome the falling gas prices as the summer driving season begins."
Crude oil prices continued their recent skid last week, falling by $1.09 per barrel to settle at $91.61 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brady said that U.S. oil output is also at a 20-year high which is good news for motorists.
